The On Point Athletics staff is made up of experienced coaches who are passionate about player development. We focus on fundamentals, proper mechanics, and helping athletes improve with clear instruction. Our coaches bring energy, accountability, and support to every session. We care about both performance and confidence, and we meet athletes where they are to help them get better.

Carlos Baerga Jr.

Carlos Baerga Jr. – Baseball Instructor | Former Professional Player | Youth Mentor Born on September 2, 1995, Baerga Jr. was raised in the game of baseball. As the son of former MLB great Carlos Baerga — a 3x All-Star, 2x Silver Slugger, and Cleveland Indians Hall of Famer — the love for the game was passed down early. He began playing baseball at just three years old and has dedicated his life to the sport ever since. He earned a baseball scholarship to the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH), where he played for four years and earned a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. In 2017, he signed professionally with the Atlanta Braves, where he played from 2017–2019. Israel Zackery

Coach

Israel Zackery is a Conyers native. He attended Heritage high school where he earned second and first team All-Region honors. He helped lead the Patriots to the playoffs his junior year. After high school, Israel went on to play at Georgia State University, where he hit above .300 during his freshman season. He also played at Georgia Highlands Community College where the program earned a Top 10 NJCAA ranking. Israel returned to Georgia State to finish his career, playing middle infield for the Panthers. Israel graduated from Georgia State with a bachelor’s degree in psychology as well as a Masters in Kinesiology. The former panther now wants to use his knowledge and experience to help athletes at On-Point Athletics.

Joe Rodriguez

Coach

Joe is a former Major League Baseball player with 14 years of Experience. Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals team that make his MLB debut. He had the opportunity to play with future Hall of Famers Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, Mark McGuire, Will Clark among others with the Cardinals. Rodriguez also played in the Majors with the Minnesota Twins where he had the opportunity to play with Hall of Fame David Ortiz, among the players he had the opportunity to play with two-time Cy young Award winner Johan Santana. Rodriguez also played for his span in professional baseball with the Florida Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, Montreal Expos now Washington Nationals, and Cleveland Indians now the Guardians. Joe also played in Asia with the Macotto Cobras in the Korean and Taiwan Leagues. He was also a member of the National Team in Puerto Rico where he participates in 3 Caribbean World Series representing Puerto Rico professionally. During that stand of 15 years, he played with numerous players of the Caliber of Hall of Fames Roberto Alomar, Ivan Pudge Rodriguez and Edgard Martinez, also played winter ball with Carlos Beltran possible future hall of fame just to mention a few. He obtained many awards in his playing career among the awards he received he was the pitcher of the years for the Cardinals, invited to the Futures Games of Major League Baseball but (due to an injury didn’t play) In the professional Winter League, he was honor with the rookie of the year award and best pitcher of the league in the year 2004. He was also a member of the Puerto Rico national team on the Pan-American Games in Panama City Panama qualifiers for the Summer Olympics in the year 2008 in Beijing. Rodriguez was a Student Athlete for two years in Indian Hills Com College where he attended to the Juco World Series two years in a row. After obtaining his AA degree he transferred to D-1 Program University of Florida International where he attended to the NCAA regionals and has a bachelor’s degree on Rec Therapy and a minor in Sports and Health Science. Joe also had a baseball academy in his native Puerto Rico called Raiders Baseball Academy where he ran over 200 kids in a daily basis and having placed over 195 players in college and 16 players Drafted out his program. Rodriguez also helps international kids through his international program Get a Chance giving international and American kids an opportunity to use baseball as a platform to persuade College and Professional careers through the game of baseball. He is also a member of the USA national team youth Coaching staff. Joe worked as a professional baseball Scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks for 13 years in Puerto Rico and Area Scout in the southeast. Joe also is a member of the USA National Team and serves as a coach Mentor at different age groups. Now, Joe is a Major League Players Agent Certified.
